From Rankings to Recommendations: How to Measure & Improve AI Visibility
“You won’t be replaced by AI, you will be replaced by someone using AI to do your job”. This session will explore how true that is!
3 Years ago at the first conference back from covid right after ChatGPT 3.0 launch: Brett Tabke said “You won’t be replaced by AI, you will be replaced by someone using AI to do your job”.
This session will explore how that is as true today as it was then.
SEO is rapidly expanding beyond rankings and clicks. Brands now need to understand whether they appear in AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and other answer engines, what those systems say about them, which sources influence the answers, and whether any of it produces meaningful business results.
Drawing from hands-on agency work, Brett Tabke will walk through the practical side of AIO and GEO: building prompt sets, measuring mentions and citations, monitoring competitors, identifying content and entity gaps, tracking AI visibility by platform and location, and turning that data into reports clients can actually understand.
The session will also look at what Brett calls AI “pushing”, deliberately working to improve inaccurate, incomplete or weak AI responses through better content, corroborating sources, entity signals and targeted optimization, then repeatedly testing to see whether the answers change.
Finally, this is about using AI itself as part of the SEO production stack. Brett will demonstrate how LLMs can help turn raw SEO data into gap analysis, audits, recommendations, client narratives and reporting, while also generating the scripts, tools and code needed to automate much of the process.
The goal isn’t another new acronym. It’s a working system for discovering how AI engines see a brand, measuring what changes, and using those findings to guide the next round of SEO work.
Key Takeaways: Attendees will learn how to:
- Build and maintain meaningful prompt sets instead of relying on a handful of branded queries.
- Measure AI visibility across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and other LLM surfaces.
- Track citations, brand mentions, recommendations, competitors and changes over time.
- Separate useful AI visibility metrics from numbers that look impressive but don’t tell you much.
- Find content, authority, entity and citation gaps behind weak AI responses.
- Use “AI pushing” techniques to improve what answer engines know and say about a business.
- Measure whether those efforts actually changed subsequent AI responses.
- Use LLMs to analyze GSC, ranking, backlink, technical audit and AI visibility data.
- Generate SEO audits, gap analyses, recommendations and client-ready narratives with AI.
- Use AI to write small tools, scripts and workflows that automate monitoring and reporting.
- Build an AIO/GEO workflow that fits alongside traditional SEO instead of replacing it.
Thursday, October 15tth, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at General Provision.
